Advocacy
We believe that those in positions of power should be held accountable. Everywhere.
Corruption is commonly recognized as a primary cause of many of the world’s most pressing problems. Crime and Corruption Watch International is a movement with a diversified membership. We work together to create a society where those with the authority to make decisions that affect people’s lives are held accountable and serve the common good. To do so, we close loopholes in legislation and regulation, pressure the powerful to act ethically, and seek retribution for individuals who have been denied the opportunity to live in a fair and just society.
We use evidence to advocate for effective anti-corruption measures.
The issues we deal with are complex and pervasive. Our in-depth research, along with the local experience of our network of national chapters, helps us understand how the rules, practices, and behaviors of a variety of actors need to change. We advocate for and campaign for complete transparency and accountability in all decision-making in practice, ensuring that no one is abused.
Over the decades, our efforts to understand the core causes of corruption have resulted in powerful social accountability instruments and systematic national reforms led by our national chapters.
Our agenda focuses on cross-sector concerns that require a combination of legislation, enforcement, and justice procedures to address. In order to facilitate change on the ground, national actions in these areas are equally vital.
